The site dedicated to sportscar race results and chassis numbers histories is under construction.
Can-Am Team Championship was an effort to continue SCCA Can-Am Championship after SCCA lost interest in the series. By 1986 the Can-Am series was dying and official SCCA championship ended after only four races. Can-Am Team members team members decided to declare their total independence and organised first own event in October 1986. So the first CAT Championship consisted of this one event and four official races. The other difference between official SCCA Can-Am Championship and its CAT version was that Can-Am Teams recognized separate 2000 cc class.
That CAT Championship continued throughout 1987 season with six races but died soon after. It is worth to mention that half of the races were ran on oval tracks, which is quite uncommon for a sportscar series.
